Angel Perez, 22, of Manssas, was behind the wheel of a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta heading south on Bull Run Post Office Road in Chantilly, around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The vehicle left the roadway near Cedar Ridge Boulevard, rolled over, and struck a utility pole, police said. The passenger in the vehicle was taken to an area hospital and has since been released.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash. Witnesses to the crash who have not already spoken with law enforcement are asked to contact Investigator M. Lotz at 703-771-1021.
